The Perils of Teen Pessimism

Pessimistic teens tend to not have as easy time of it when compared to their optimistic peers. A teen with a pessimistic personality usually is not as easy going or fun to be with, has a negative view of the world and the things that occur to them, and don't look forward to the future.
In fact, negative teens don't really look forward to anything.

This kind of negative attitude can have a lot of mental and psychological difficulties.

Some of the most common problems that pessimistic teens can develop are as follows.
1. They tend to be more depressed than the optimistic peers.
Their lack of confidence makes them dread the normal things of life that teens go through. This negative attitude, over time, can cause a lot of undue hardship and depression can set in. Once a teen develops depressive tendencies, they may even become predisposed towards depression for the rest of their lives.

2. They may develop a low self-image because they lack the confidence that they need to feel good about themselves and others.
Negative teens are not go-getters. They simply want to cruise the mediocrity band wagon since that is comfortable and it takes no risks. Pessimistic teens don't usually feel confident that they will achieve anything.
3. They tend to feel purposeless and always think that other people are nice to them because they want something them. They don't think that they deserve love, and they don't think that they will ever achieve their dreams or goals.

Instead, they think that other kids will excel.
Negative teens tend to be envious of their peers because of this. 4.
They tend of have an inferiority complex that follows them through every action. Most teens tend to think that through hard work they can achieve whatever they really set their minds to.

Pessimists, on the other hand, believe that they can never accomplish anything that is worthwhile.

5. They can feel isolated because very few kids want to hang around someone who is always grumpy, and who thinks that the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
It is difficult to always hang around kids who put themselves or others down and who are gloomy.

This can cause pessimists to be alone a lot of the time.

Because of all of these difficulties, it is far better for teens to try not to be pessimistic.
Despite the fact that adolescence can be a pessimistic time, teens can aspire to be more optimistic, full of life and fun loving through practise and diligence.
